North Charleston -- A 31-year-old man allegedly attacked his girlfriend and threw their baby at her during an argument at their South Carolina residence.

Cops arrived at the home shortly after midnight Wednesday following a call about possible child abduction.

The accused boyfriend, identified as Vincent Samuel Reid of North Charleston, was reportedly intoxicated when he arrived at their apartment on Alston Avenue. The victim said she was sitting with her children when Reid came home and found her talking to someone on the phone, according to WCSC.

Reid is said to have snatched the phone from her and called up the person his girlfriend was talking to and threatened to shoot their home.

The girlfriend then grabbed her phone and dialed 911, which triggered a verbal argument between her and the boyfriend. The man allegedly struck the victim’s face and took her phone away, police said. He then grabbed the baby and walked out of the house.

When the victim called 911 again, Reid returned to the house and threw her phone away. He is accused of throwing the baby at her following this. The struggle turned physical as Reid choked her and bit her on her shoulder.

The victim bit Reid’s hand and managed to free herself before yelling at her daughter in another room to call 911.

Officers from the North Charleston Police Department responded to the child abduction report and could hear screaming from one of the apartment units as they approached the building.

Responding officers saw Reid walking down the stairs with a large tote and loudly stating that he had a gun on him, according to ABC News 4.

The boyfriend was arrested and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. He was charged with first-degree domestic violence and unlawful conduct towards a child.

A similar incident was reported last year after a Florida woman threw her infant at the child’s father during an argument. While arguing with the baby's father, Shana Vega pulled a knife and threw the 1-month-old daughter at him. The infant landed face down on the floor after the father failed to catch her. Vega then picked up her baby, who had sustained severe injuries, and fled the hotel they were staying in. Cops later found her and arrested her.
