iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak: iPhone 4S Will Support iOS 5; iPad 2 Not Confirmed Reuters

If you want to jailbreak your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 (i.e., A5 devices), here is an exciting news - the French hacker pod2g has released an iPhone 4S 5.0.1 untethered demo video on his blog.

This video was made by pod2g's friend @Dhowett, who is also a member of Chronic Dev Team and a famous iOS developer.

This means the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 might be released soon, just as the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak (for non-A5 devices) was released just a few days after pod2g posted the iPhone 4 untethered jailbreak demo video.

Last week, the dream team, which includes @planetbeing, @MuscleNerd and @p0sixninja, solved the sandbox issue. Pod2g said on his blog, @planetbeing escaped from the sandbox with the help of @saurik. Thanks to their awesome work, there should be nothing left blocking for the A5 jailbreak.

Towards the end of last year, Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team released Corona and Redsn0w 0.9.10b respectively. The A4 untethered jailbreak were for iPhone3GS, iPhone4, iPhone4-CDMA, iPad, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G. Corona and Redsn0w 0.9.10b were based on pod2g's work as the French hacker gave up releasing A4 jailbreak so that he could focus on A5 devices.

The hacker community also suggested that users update to 5.0.1 before Apple stop signing it as Apple recently released the latest iOS 5.1 Beta 3, which closes the exploit for the Corona untethered jailbreak to registered developers for testing.
