iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak Update: Pod2g Has Focused on A5, Chronic Dev-team Will Release A4 Jailbreak

For those who are still waiting for the iOS 5/5.0.1 untethered jailbreak, there are two good news. The French hacker pod2g posted an article on his blog, saying that he gave all the details about A4 jailbreak to Chronic Dev-team which will be released ASAP, and he will focus on the A5.

Pod2g encouraged his readers by saying he need to put all his energy on A5, and he felt Chronic could help him.

I gave all the details to the chronic dev team so that they can finish, test, integrate and release the A4 jb ASAP, he wrote on his blog. This mean the A4 untethered Jailbreak would be rolled out before the A5 jailbreak. Previously, a lot of people told pod2g they do not have patience for A5 jailbreak, and asked him to release the A4 Jailbreak.

Pod2g, explaining his feelings, said they don't want to waste an exploit that took him months to find and develop.

On pod2g's blog, he wrote:

Focused on A5
I read the comments on the blog, and I know that a lot of people are waiting for the A5 jailbreak.
Also, I know there are tons of people out there with A4 or even earlier devices who wants the untether now and don't care about it could be interesting to wait A5 is finished to release or even 5.1, so that we don't waste an exploit that took me months to find and develop.
I need to focus on A5 and hope I can find a path quick, and I have the feeling that chronic-dev could help me.
So, here is what I did:
- I gave all the details to the chronic dev team so that they can finish, test, integrate and release the A4 jb ASAP.
- I'll put all my energy from now on on the A5

On Wednesday, pod2g released a demo video, called iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 Untethered JB Demo. This video shows the current status of the 5.0.1 jailbreak running on an iPhone 4.

Earlier this week, the hacker solved A5 cache issue after receiving an iPhone 4S from a supporter.

Meanwhile, his competitor MuscleNerd released the redsn0w 0.9.9b9d, which is a semi-tethered jailbreak, and the untethered jailbreak for 3GS old bootrom users.
