iOS 5.1
iOS 5.1 Apple | Tech&Trend

Apple iOS v5.1, from what we have seen, is the best version of the iOS yet. This version doesn’t change a lot when compared to iOS 5.0, but sometimes it is the little things that matters most, and those little things have helped push iOS 5.1 to be the best iOS version ever.

Here’s a rundown of 5 reasons why iOS 5.1 is the best version of the platform ever released. You may or may not agree. The comment area is there for you to share your own views.

OTA application download limit now capped at 50MB

Before the update, users of iOS-based iDevices were limited to a 20MB maximum download limit per file over the air. This has since change with iOS 5.1. Now whenever you are on a 3G/4G connection, you can download files up to 50MB. This still might not be enough for most users, but think about it for a second. If you are unable to download large files over a 3G/4G connection, then do it over Wi-Fi, it’s that simple.

Audio for TV shows and movies on iPad have been optimized to sound clearer

There was a problem that plagued iPad 2 owners for quite some time. Audio for movies and TV shows were well below what was expected. Happily, Apple fixed this problem in iOS 5.1, making your favorite TV shows and Movies have crystal clear playback.

Want 4G on your iPhone 4S? iOS 5.1 makes it possible

OK, do not get overly excited. The feature was already there, it was just called 3G. At the time the iPhone 4S came out, some networks were dubbing HSPA+ as 4G. Apple wasn’t down for that despite the iPhone 4S supporting HSPA+. Now that every network known is calling HSPA+, which falls under the 3G standard, a 4G technology, Apple had no choice but change things in iOS 5.1 to reflect what is happening. So yes, if you upgraded to iOS 5.1, your iPhone 4S will show 4G, despite not being a 4G device. Have fun boys.

Free trial period for applications

Applications are just one of the many things that entice consumers to go out and buy an iDevice, so whatever improvements that can be done to the ecosystem can only be a good thing in the long run. From what we understand, Apple has implemented plans for free trials applications. Hard core users will love this more than anyone else.

Ability to delete photos from PhotoStream

Could you believe it, there was a time when iOS users were not able to delete photos via PhotoStream, and that was a serious pain to endure. Gladly, Apple made some improvements to PhotoStream along with making it possible to delete images.

Conclusion

Some of you who read this must be wondering, how could these reasons make iOS 5.1 the best version yet? All we can say is, sometimes it’s just the little things that matters the most.
