iOS 6 Beta 4 Jailbreak On iPhone 4 (GSM/CDMA), 3GS And iPod Touch 4G With Redsn0w 0.9.13dev3
Ever since the announcement of the iOS 6, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system in June, the company has released four betas so far, allowing developers to test and discover the latest changes the new OS will bring about.
On Monday, the Cupertino tech giant released the fourth beta of the OS, iOS 6 beta 4 build 10A5376e, to developers just three weeks after the third beta. The new iOS 6 beta, released as an over-the-air (OTA) update, is also available in the iOS Dev Center.
iOS 6 is considered a major update with significant changes from Apple. One of the key features and improvements included in the new OS is Apple's own advanced mapping system, offering the benefit of 3D mapping, fly-over city tours and efficient turn-by-turn navigation.
While millions of Apple fans around the world are looking forward to try their hands on the new iPhone, aka the "iPhone 5" that is expected to land in mid-September, running on iOS 6, users of jailbroken iOS devices are also holding their breath to see what jailbreakers do in terms of producing new jailbreak tools.
With that in mind, here's some good news. Well-known iOS hacker MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team confirmed via Twitter on Monday that the newly released iOS 6 beta 4 can be jailbreakable on A4 capable (iPhone 4, iPod touch 4th gen, iPhone 3GS) devices using the latest version of the popular jailbreak tool Redsn0w (0.9.13 dev 3).
"JB devs can continue using redsn0w 0.9.13dev3 with todays iOS 6 beta4 (keep pointing redsn0w at iOS 6 beta3 IPSW)," MuscleNerd tweeted.
However, there are a few important aspects to keep in mind:
- Redsn0w must be pointed at iOS 6 beta3 IPSW.
- Since these beta versions of iOS 6 are meant for developers only, this jailbreak is also intended only for developers of jailbroken apps to update their Cydia packages to support iOS 6.
- This jailbreak will not install Cydia since a number of packages have not been updated to support the new firmware.

Key Changes Brought By iOS 6 Beta 4
Meanwhile, a handful of changes have been reported in the iOS 6 beta 4. Apart from the removal of the native YouTube app, a new Bluetooth Sharing option has been found within the Privacy settings, along with some other minor modifications.
According to the iDownloadBlog, the new Bluetooth Sharing menu that appears in the Settings application under the Privacy pane lists apps that have requested the ability to share data via Bluetooth.
The report noted that the new Bluetooth Sharing option could be possibly related to the Bluetooth linking feature that the technology website iLounge reported last week.
"Our source also claimed that Apple is working on an as-yet-undisclosed iOS 6 feature that will act as a bridge between its Bluetooth 4-capable devices," said the report.
"The feature would enable, say, a future iPod nano to display iMessages received by an iPhone, record voice memos that could be shared via the iPhone, and even initiate phone calls through its own headphones."
The fourth beta also includes a new option in the Mail, Contacts and Calendar Settings pane for Shared Calendars. In addition, other changes include improvements to the Maps app, a refurbished iOS 6 splash screen and a new button in the Passbook app, linking to the App Store, reported iDownloadBlog.
