iPad 3 to Launch in March or April 2012?
The rumors about the next generation iPad, dubbed iPad 3, are endless. And the latest rumor is that the highly anticipated iPad 3 will launch in March or April 2012.
According to Taipei-based DigiTimes, an anonymous source claimed Apple's manufacturers in the supply chain have begun shipping the parts and components of iPad 3 to OEM contractors. Meanwhile, the shipment orders for iPad 3's predecessor, iPad 2, are also reducing.
However, DigiTimes' source said, the production of the current iPad will be still high - 14-15 million units in the fourth quarter of this year. But in the first quarter of 2012, the production of iPad 2 will be dramatically reduced to 4-5 million units, making way for its successor. Volume production of iPad 3 is expected to begin in February and hit almost 10 million units in the first quarter of 2012.
Apple's Chinese manufacturer Foxconn Electronics will start to make iPad 3 in January 2012 and ramp up the production from February, another analyst of Citigroup Global Market Kevin Chang told Chinese site Commercial Times.
Last week, Citi analyst Richard Gardner said in a research note that Apple's next generation tablet would release in February with Retina display (2048x1536 pixel resolution) and Siri.
Only Apple knows what is truth.
