iPhone 11 Features, Leak: Apple Could Be Killing Off This Function

There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that Apple will soon be launching the much awaited iPhone 11 this year. And in true Apple tradition, we hardly know anything and much less have actual confirmation of the Cupertino giant’s next flagship lineup.

But based on what seems to be reliable leaks from trusted Apple insiders, what we know so far is that the iPhone 11 will indeed have a triple-camera module at the back, significantly improving the iPhone’s excellent photography features. The iPhone 11’s expected new logic board could usher in better battery life for the new phones as well, something that most iPhone fans have been clamoring for years.

Now there’s new information of a feature that could no longer be available in the soon-to-be-launched iOS phones this year. According to 9to5Mac, the iPhone 11 could signal the death of Apple’s 3D Touch. This speculation seems to be accurate since there have been circulating rumors since last year that the Cupertino tech company will stop producing pressure-sensitive screens for all its devices.

The information first came from Digitimes, which is known for its hit-or-miss reportage on information about anything Apple-related so this info should still be taken with a grain of salt. However, small “leaks” might actually confirm that this direction will indeed be taken by Apple.

Per 9to5Mac, the Cuperino giant has already begun laying the groundwork for this transition via the user interface changes in iOS 13. In the Digitimes report, there are industry quotes from touch module manufacturers TPK and GIS that alluded to the idea that the companies have been getting ongoing orders for touch sensors for Apple tablets and laptops along with continuous demand for legacy iPhone units.

What’s more, Apple seems to be going for full-on OLED display panels for all its phones. Currently, Samsung continues to be the sole supplier of OLED displays for the iPhones while LG supplies the display panels for the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch.

Now there is also news that Apple could be tapping BOE to supply the iPhone’s OLED display panels due to Japanese restrictions on Korean exports which could affect Apple’s manufacturing line. This is yet to be confirmed, however, so we might not be able to get solid info until Apple’s expected September 2019 launch event for the new iPhones.
