iPhone 11 Release Date, Features: No USB-C Port In Sight
Apple’s supposed next flagship phone, the iPhone 11, is slated to be launched this September just like previous iOS phone reveals.
Admittedly, the next Apple phone is not getting many positive media reception lately. In fact, the new phone is bombarded with shocking rumors such as the supposed plans to abandon the anticipated camera upgrade which would have made use of Quantum Dot image sensors. The upgrade would have made the iPhone camera one of the most powerful in the market today.
Another supposed upgrade that people are looking forward to but might not come after all is the switch from Lightning port to USB-C. According to a report, the 2019 phones (iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max and iPhone 11R) will be retaining the Lightning port much like their predecessors. This is based on New Olixar case renders of the iPhone 11 Max which was teased by U.K. retailer Mobile Fun. The renders clearly suggest that the Cupertino giant is set to continue using Lightning cables.
This might prove to be disappointing for those who have been awaiting the USB Type C port to come to iOS since it could greatly improve charging time and cable integrity which has been a problem for many Apple users. Recent news revealed that Apple is leaning towards this major change but it seems the company is not yet ready to give up this feature just yet.
The Cupertino firm already started the change with the third-generation iPad Pro so Apple fans are already holding on to the hope that a similar upgrade on the iPhone is on the works. At this point, the USB-C port might be something to look forward to from Apple’s 2020 lineup instead.
Aside from the lightning port, the phone case teaser also seemed to have confirmed the triple camera module at the back of the phone that’s housed by a rather large square hump. The camera setup is a problem for some Apple analysts with some even calling the feature ugly despite its supposed powerful capabilities. The report also points to a smaller notch for the iPhone. The size is significantly smaller when compared to the one on the iPhone X and Apple’s 2018 lineup.
