iPhone 11 Specs: Buttonless, Wrap-Around Concept Design Is The Innovation Apple Needs
News of the iPhone 11, Apple’s supposed next iPhone offering this year, have been scarce as of late. And whatever information comes out from reliable sources are admittedly underwhelming.
There’s not much going on when it comes to specs and design. Apart from the triple camera render on premium models, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max, the rest of the supposed upgrades are quite standard, to say the least.
There are reports saying the iPhone 11 is going to have an all-glass back which covers even parts where the camera protrudes in older models, leaving a smooth and elegant design. More than aesthetics, the glass back could mean two-way charging for the Cupertino smartphone. This is a feature that’s now available in Samsung so it would seem natural that the company goes the same path.
Now, apart from these speculations which many reliable sources have already commented on, a new design concept was recently released showing a much more exciting direction for the new iPhone.
According to Cult Of Mac, the design is the “craziest” so far but is also the most attractive and edgy. The design is the epitome of “free” as the screen wraps around the unit seamlessly instead of being constrained by a metal frame.
The wrap-around concept basically removes all buttons including the mute and volume buttons on the side. According to the report, this could very well mean new shortcuts for commands which give the phone a truly different feel and interface.
Admittedly, the wrap-around design is stunning and seems to come straight out of the imagination of a New Age designer. It’s a visual feast and so beautiful, in fact, that you hardly notice that the concept phone has a quad camera at the back.
The concept model also shows that all buttons are practically virtual for that very high-tech feel and shortcuts are found along the sides instead of on the screen to remove any obstacle that could hinder the wrap-around view.
Suffice to say that this design will probably not see the light of day simply because it’s impractical. The model looks frighteningly fragile and it would be next to impossible to find something to protect the screen. And as the report pointed out, this design is susceptible to damage and considering the high price of Apple Care, buying a phone of this type just won’t make sense once the fanfare dies down.
