iPhone 8 vs. Galaxy S8: Leaked Benchmark Shows Apple Phone Superior Than Samsung Flagship

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 flagship phone won the hearts of many consumers not only because of its innovative design, but also due to its powerful performance. However, it appears Tim Cook’s company is working to crush the Android handset when it debuts the 10th anniversary iPhone — currently known as iPhone 8 — later this year. A leaked benchmark apparently shows that the next-generation iOS flagship will be the most powerful phone in the market once it is out.

On Tuesday, Slashleaks published a screenshot of what appears to be the Geekbench benchmark scores of the iPhone 8. Though the leak does not indicate that the scores are for the upcoming flagship iPhone, the site just presumed it based on the system information shown in the screenshot. The device that was tested on the Geekbench 4 benchmark is running iOS 11 and it has a quad-core A11 processor at 2.74GHz. For the single-core test, the device got 4,537, and it also earned an impressive 8,975 score for the multi-core test.

Comparing the scores of Apple’s next flagship to the official scores of the Galaxy S8, Tom’s Guide says the former just obliterates the latter. This is because Samsung’s almost bezel-less handset scored 1,846 on the single-core test and 6,295 on the multi-core portion. Therefore, the iPhone 8 could be more than twice as fast as the Galaxy S8 in performing single tasks, and it could be 43 percent faster than the Android phone when multitasking.

Meanwhile, information about Apple demanding for a higher-end display panel for its iPhone 8 from Samsung surfaced early this week. The Cupertino giant is said to be determined to outdo Samsung’s Galaxy S8 that it now wants a more high-end OLED display for its upcoming device. An analyst said that the display Apple wants to outfit its new device should have a more aggressive curvature and one that could cover the entire front body of the handset.
