Apple launched its first budget smartphone, the iPhone SE, in 2016. Now, the company is all set to launch iPhone 9 or many are calling it the iPhone SE 2.
According to Cnet, the new budget phone is likely to have a body of iPhone 8 with A13 processor and carry the iPhone 11's RAM.
Meanwhile, My Drivers reported that iPhone 9 or iPhone SE is well under trial production. Moreover, they mentioned that it will be called iPhone 9 and is slated to launch in March 2020, GSM Arena claimed.
The report also suggested that iPhone 9 will be made available to consumers from emerging markets like India. The current production of iPhone 9 is two to four million units each month and it is scheduled to start mid-February.
The expected price of iPhone 9 will be priced under $432 or CNY 3,000. The first budget phone from Apple, iPhone SE, was a success because of its competitive pricing. It was launched at $399 way cheaper than iPhone 6S, which started at $649.
iPhone SE became a major hit with people who love small phones. Also, in order to keep it cost-effective, Apple made some smart omissions. iPhone SE did not come with optical image stabilization and skipped the 3D touch. Despite these compromises, iPhone SE could run iOS 9 like the 6 or 6S models. People were ready to embrace iPhone SE in spite of it is lacking a few features.
Similar smart moves by Apple are expected when they launch the iPhone 9 this year. It will be interesting to note the camera setup that Apple will introduce in the new upcoming budget iPhone.
Apple’s iOS is considered a premium operating system and iPhone 9 and iPhone SE are budget-friendly ways for consumers to hop on the iOS bandwagon. Apple is yet to make an official announcement regarding its new budget phone along with specs and pricing.
