The Wuhan coronavirus has stalled some companies over in China, raising doubts on whether Apple can launch its new breed of iPhones as scheduled. Among those expected to come out this year is the iPhone SE 2, the company's budget-friendly device.
With most companies in China were forced to temporarily shut down, delays are a foregone conclusion. But in the case of the iPhone SE 2, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo feels that this will not hamper the planned launch of the said variant, Mac Rumors reported. He believes that the iPhone SE 2 will launch as scheduled by the first half of 2020. A reason for this is that he mentions the upcoming Apple handset coming without a 7-element plastic (7P) lens.
Considering the iPhone SE 2 is the cheapest model any Apple loyalist can get their hands on, the absence of the 7P lens should not be surprising. Keeping the prices low is the target of the company. Some believe this is done by the Cupertino company trying to reuse old components except for probably the A-series chip. It is believed that, despite a strict budget, the iPhone SE 2 will come with an A13 chip.
Last week, pricing for the iPhone SE 2 came out in a report by Fast Company. According to them, the budget-friendly device will carry a suggested retail price of $399. For those who still recall the old iPhone SE, this is practically the same price when it was offered in the market.
With regards to design, the iPhone SE 2 is expected to have similarities in design with the iPhone 8. The only rumored difference is that it will have a thicker top and bottom. It is expected to have a Touch ID home button.
Aside from relying on an A13 chip, the iPhone SE 2 will also have 3 GB of RAM with customers having the option of getting a 64 or 128 GB storage variant. It is speculated to be available in Space Gray, Silver and Red color themes. With the iPhone SE 2 unlikely to have the 7P lens, a single-lens rear camera is expected for the iPhone SE 2.
With Apple reportedly set to provide an update on the iPad Pro lineup next month, most feel that there is a media event in the works. It could be the event where Apple would introduce its new products, potentially including the iPhone SE 2.
