iPhone Theft On Cruise Results in Thief?s ?Stolen iPhone Adventures? Photos Published From Katy McCaffrey?s iCloud

Having your iPhone stolen, especially while on a vacation, is everyone's nightmare.

For Katy McCaffrey, the worst nightmare turned into a viral joke while aboard a Disney cruise when the theft of her iPhone led to Stolen iPhone Adventures, an album of photos taken by the thief retrieved from her iCloud, prompting Disney to investigate.

Here's how the saga went down.

McCaffrey, a Los Angeles-based creative consultant in the entertainment industry, embarked on a Disney Wonder cruise in April when her iPhone was stolen. Soon after, she began noticing new photos being uploaded to her iCloud, a feature on the Apple iPhone which automatically uploads photos to the photo stream and synced on the user's cloud account. Alleging his name was Nelson, McCaffrey uploaded the photos of the thief -- ranging from partying with friends to private time with his girlfriend -- to her Facebook account along with comical captions.

Since McCaffrey, uploaded the album entitled Stolen iPhone Adventures on Monday night, the photos of the thief have been shared over 3,000 times despite her keeping it private at first.

This is Nelson. Nelson has stolen my iPhone, McCaffrey wrote. I can't see any reason why people shouldn't share this.

It is unclear whether or not Nelson was the person who stole her phone nor does the man seen in the photos know they have been publically uploaded to Facebook.

McCaffrey alerted Disney Cruise about her stolen iPhone saga, according to MSNBC, and sent the recovered photos along with the report.

Hopefully I'll get my phone back and maybe some free passes to Disneyland, she wrote.

Manager of public affairs for Disney Cruise, Rebecca Peddie, told MSNBC the iPhone has been recovered and said Disney Cruise officials are working on making it right with [McCaffrey]. However, Peddie did not confirm whether the iPhone was recovered from the man seen in the photos, though she said one employee was placed on administrative leave for the duration of the investigation.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for this type of behavior, Peddie said. We are taking aggressive action.
