IPL 2011 - Violent RCB thrash CSK
Chennai Super Kings were handed a violent hammering by a superb Bangalore Royal Challengers side as the victors secured their spot on the top of the table and are in prime position for a spot in the final.
Chris Gayle was at his unstoppable best as his bowlers handed him the easy target of 129. For the Super Kings, their top order was to blame as they crumbled within the first six overs. Chennai will thank MS Dhoni for sparing them the blushes as he came on, at 22 - 4, to score an unbeaten 70, taking the team's total to 128.
It was barely a total, especially against a side boasting Gayle. RCB lost AB de Villiers (0) quickly, but Gayle (*75) aided by Kohli (31) thumped CSK all over the park. Kohli departed with the score at 80, but S Tiwary came on to aid Gayle.
In the end, it was all too comfortable for Bangalore. They have secured the top spot in the table and are favourites to advance from the play-offs.
