Blue-haired pop superstar Katy Perry will be the latest international celebrity to visit India.

The 27-year-old pop icon will kick start the Season 5 of India's annual Twenty20 cricket tournament - the Indian Premier League - with her electrifying Hot n Cold performance in Chennai April 3.

We look forward to Ms. Perry's participation at the DLF IPL 2012 Opening Nite, confirmed the IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla in a statement.

The super hot pop sensation is the next to join the league of international pop A-listers like Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Akon, Metallica and Pitbull, who have performed in India in the recent times.

A performer of her caliber makes the occasion even more special for the IPL family -- players, organizers and fans. The verve and originality of her music matches that of the competition and we look forward to an inspired performance from her, Shukla said.

The opening ceremony will also feature Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan.

The show will begin at 7:30 pm IST and the tickets are made available at a starting price of approx $30 (1,500 INR).

The season 5 of IPL will feature 76 matches in total from April 4 to May 27 across 12 venues in India.

Perry, one of the well-known faces of American music industry, is also known for her unconventional ensembles, dyed-hair and uncanny get-ups.
