  • Ireland Baldwin revealed on TikTok that she had two abortions in the past

Ireland Baldwin has spoken up amid the discussions on women’s abortion rights after the U.S. Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe v. Wade last week.

In a TikTok video posted Sunday, the 26-year-old model got candid about her harrowing experience as a teen when she had to get an abortion after she was raped.

“Before I share what I am going to share, I don't feel that it is anybody's responsibility to talk about this if they don't feel comfortable,” she started the clip with a disclaimer.

Baldwin called out women on social media who have been urging other women to share their abortion stories in response to the court’s decision. For her, the move seemed “invasive and wrong.”

According to the daughter of Alec Baldwin and ex-wife Kim Basinger, she shared her story simply because she wanted other women to feel “supported and loved” and not to push them to share their own stories just because she did.

“I was raped when I was a teenager, and I was completely unconscious when it happened, and it changed the course of the rest of my life,” Baldwin revealed in the clip.

The incident drove her to get an abortion, but she did not tell anyone except for the nurse who treated her. Both her parents and even her boyfriend at the time were oblivious to what she did, as per People.

“I kept that secret inside of me for years, and because I did, it caused a lot of hurt and a lot of pain to me and to people I love,” she said.

The model went on to reveal that she also got pregnant with her boyfriend at the time, but he made it clear to her that he never wanted kids or marriage and that he was not serious about their relationship. This pushed her to get another abortion.

“I chose to get an abortion because I know exactly what it felt like to be born between two people who hated each other,” she said.

She admitted that she could have had the baby and put him or her up for adoption, but in the end, she chose herself.

“I chose me, and I would choose me again. It’s your life, it’s your choice,” she concluded her post.

The representatives for Baldwin’s parents declined to comment on her revelations when reached by Today.

The Roe v. Wade ruling in 1973 granted women the right to an abortion in every state. Overturning it changed the landscape of women’s reproductive rights in the country. Total bans on abortion in many states are to be enacted in the coming months as a result.
