Finn Jones will soon be fighting crime on Marvel’s Netflix series “Iron Fist,” so he's getting into character. Before the show begins filming, the actor is learning how to become one with the universe and to use his fists and feet as weapons.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jones said he “loves” the character he'll be playing, Daniel Rand, because of his human and “spiritual elements.” The “Game of Thrones” actor added that preproduction on the series has started and he has been gearing up for the role by going through daily training.

“Every day for the last month, I start my day with about two and a half hours of martial arts — which is kung fu and wushu mixed with a bit of tai chi, and other stuff as well,” Jones dished. “In the afternoon I’ll do weight training with a trainer to bulk me up and get me physically right for the part. And in evenings I’ve been doing meditation classes and learning Buddhist philosophies.”

While he prepares for the role, Jones said he has yet to try on the costume of the superhero. However, he added that he’s “super excited” for the role and described it as “a dream come true.”

“Iron Fist” will tell the story of the Marvel superhero who is a master of kung fu and can summon the power of the Iron Fist. Not many plot details have been released about the show yet, but they've announced a few cast signings. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star Jessica Henwick will play Colleen Wing, and Variety reports “The Lord of the Rings” actor David Wenham has signed on as Harold Meachum.

Jones told Access Hollywood at the “Game of Thrones” Season 6 premiere on Sunday that he’s been in touch with other stars of Marvel’s Netflix series. He couldn’t really reveal much about “Iron Fist,” but he did say he thinks it’s going to be “awesome” and he "can’t wait to start filming.”

The series is expected to be the final chapter of Marvel’s Netflix series leading up to a big crossover miniseries called “Defenders.” “Defenders” will see Iron Fist team up with fellow crimefighters Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter). “Luke Cage” will be the next Marvel series to drop on Netflix, which arrives on Sept. 30.

“Iron Fist” is expected to be released in 2017.
