iTunes reveals automatic download and updates for Apple iOS 5 apps

A leak within iTunes suggests that automatic download and updates are scheduled for the upcoming iOS 5 according to a message announcement on the iTunes update page. The news come amidst the handful of rumors and expectations that is surrounding next week's WWDC presentation by CEO Steve Jobs on Apple's iOS 5 , Lion, and iCloud. Users have been suggesting that over the air updating is coming to iOS but the iTunes message is a close sign to confirming the new service.

According to MacRumors, the leak was found directly on the Apple iTunes apps page announcing,

Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync.

Apple users anticipate the convenience of having this feature, which is already applied by Google's Android mobile OS. Rather than manually updating Apple apps by connecting devices to the App Store, the potential new feature could automatically update existing apps right when a new version becomes available.

Once an app update is made available, Android allows users to receive notifications on either running an automatic update or manually select which apps they want downloaded, and then proceed onto installing them. It is unclear whether Apple will apply the same model or present a new way of keeping all apps up to date.
