President Donald Trump announced Wednesday morning on Twitter that his administration would prohibit transgender troops from the military "in any capacity." Trump's eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, both of whom serve as senior advisers to President Trump, reportedly surrendered on the idea supporting transgender troops.

There have been reports that Ivanka Trump and Kushner have made efforts to combat anti-LGBT initiatives of the Trump administration. However, according to a White House official, "they quickly determined that their 'political capital be spent elsewhere," because their "advice on LGBT issues has been routinely overruled, if not overlooked, by this administration and President Trump," the Daily Beast reported Wednesday.

During Pride Month in June, Ivanka Trump took to Twitter in support of the LGBT community. Some perceived her tweets to be insensitive amid the climate of her father’s administration.

"I am proud to support my LGBTQ friends and the LGBTQ Americans who have made immense contributions to our society and economy," she posted June 1.

During a CBS interview in April, Ivanka Trump explained why she doesn’t publicly voice her opinion regarding gay rights, Planned Parenthood and climate change.

"I would say not to conflate lack of public denouncement with silence," she said.

She also cited that there are multiple ways for one to express their opinion. The 35-year-old stated that while she may disagree with her father, she has been candid with him.

"In some case, it’s through protest and it’s through going on the nightly news and talking about or denouncing every issue in which you disagree with. Other times it is quietly, and directly, and candidly," she said.

She added, "So where I disagree with my father, he knows it, and I express myself with total candor. Where I agree, I fully lean in and support the agenda and hope that I can be an asset to him and make a positive impact. But I respect the fact that he always listens. It’s how he was in business. It’s how he is as president."

Ivanka Trump talked about how Kushner has been a part of the decision-making process in the White House. She noted that the team President Trump constructed in the White House looked to tackle each initiative the best they can.

"So, you know a lot of people would say the same about how could somebody successfully win the presidency who had never been engaged in politics and my father did that and Jared was instrumental in helping his campaign succeed," she said.

She added, "So, you know Jared is incredibly smart, very talented, has enormous capacity. He is humble in the recognition of what he doesn’t know. And is tremendously secure in his ability to seek informed viewpoints. He has an amazing team that my father has built at the White House, and that he’s built that’s helping work on each of these initiatives. So you know the myth that he is operating in a silo is just that."

Ivanka Trump has not released a statement on the president's decision to ban transgender troops.
