‘iZombie’ Season 2 Spoilers: 9 Things To Know Before The Oct. 6 Premiere
Everyone's favorite zombie heroine Liv Moore (Rose McIver) is back for brand new episodes of "iZombie." The hit CW show kicks off its new season on Tuesday, following an explosive Season 1 finale that left a few of Liv's friendships in trouble and her brother Evan (Nick Purcha) in dire need of her help.
Before the new episodes start, check out nine things to know about "iZombie" Season 2:
1. Liv Finds Herself Isolated From Family And Friends
"iZombie" showrunner Rob Thomas told The Hollywood Reporter that McIver's character goes into Season 2 with very few friends and on bad terms with her family. Last season, Liv made a decision to turn her ex-boyfriend Major (Robert Buckley) into a zombie. She eventually gave Major and her nemesis Blaine (David Anders) an untested cure to turn them into humans, but Major is still mad at Liv.
"Liv will start off Season 2 pretty much estranged from everyone else," Thomas teased. The showrunner also added that Liv's mom Eva Moore (Molly Hagan) isn't happy with her because Liv won't donate blood to her brother Evan (Nick Purcha.). Evan is currently in the hospital after getting injured in the Meat Cute massacre and needs a blood transfusion. Liv's mother and brother don't know she's a zombie, and Liv is afraid if she donates blood to her sibling he'll also become a zombie.
2. Evan Might Die
There's a chance Evan could die in Season 2 of "iZombie" because of Liv refusing to give blood. Thomas told The Hollywood Reporter he won't confirm Evan's fate, but teased that there's definitely a "fallout" from her hesitation.
3. Peyton Might Return For Season 2
In Season 1's penultimate episode, Liv's best friend Peyton (Aly Michalka) was completely freaked out after discovering Liv is a zombie and left. It's not clear where Peyton ran off to, but there's a chance she could return for the show's new season.
4. Ravi Is Still Searching For The Zombie Cure
Ravi (Rahul Kohli), the head coroner, is close to finding a zombie cure but he's still got a lot of work to do. Last season, Ravi made some progress towards finding a cure but it still has to be tested. In Season 2, Ravi will be on the hunt for tainted Utopium and will get to leave the morgue a bit more than last season.
5. Blaine And Major Suffer Side Effects From The Zombie Cure
Blaine and Major won't enter Season 2 as brain-eating zombies, but they will have to deal with the consequences of Liv injecting them with Ravi's zombie cure. Thomas told The Hollywood Reporter both characters will suffer a few side effects from the drug. Anders, who plays Blaine, told USA Today one of the side effects for his character will be the ability to "sense when zombies" are close by.
6. Blaine Has a New Job
Since Blaine is no longer a zombie when Season 2 starts, he will take up a new job venture. Anders told USA Today his character will be the head director of Shady Pots Funerary. Anders said Blaine will enjoy his new position, but Thomas teased that Blaine still wants to lead the zombie underworld so he will try and pass himself off as undead from time to time.
7. Blaine and Liv Will Team Up
As previously reported, Liv and Blaine will have to put their differences aside and team up for Season 2 to stop Max Rager CEO Vaughn Du Clark (Steven Weber) from trying to kill off the entire undead population.
8. The Meat Cute Massacre Plays A Significant Role In Season 2
While the police department is ready to close the case on Lt. Suzuki's (Hiro Kanagawa) death, Detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) believes something fishy is going on and starts to zero in on Major as somehow being involved, Entertainment Weekly reports.
9. Official Premiere Synopsis
The first episode of "iZombie's" second season is titled "Grumpy Old Liv," and will feature Liv consuming the brains of a cantankerous old man to gain insight into his death." The synopsis adds that "Ravi suspects that Major is experiencing a side effect to the cure," while Liv makes a surprise visit to Blaine.
