Ever since he burst onto the music scene as a member of South Korean boy group GOT7 in 2014, Hong Kong-born rapper, singer and songwriter Jackson Wang has charmed his way into the hearts of millions of fans all over the world.
With his massive success comes massive wealth. Wang’s net worth is estimated to be about $8 million today, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
As Wang celebrates his 28th birthday, let's take a look at how he made his fortune and how he's spent his wealth in recent years.
Even before he left South Korean entertainment company JYP Entertainment in 2021, Wang has been making money from his solo endeavors and lucrative brand endorsements, according to a South China Morning Post report.
The bulk of his wealth comes from China-headquartered Team Wang, an international record label he founded in 2017. He's released his music under the label, including his first English-language track "Papillon."
Aside from the music industry, Wang, who is considered to be one of the most stylish members of GOT7, also delved into the world of fashion.
In 2020, Wang launched his fashion collection called Cookies – The Original as part of his merchandise division Team Wang Design, of which he serves as lead designer and creative director. His fashion label has partnered with many brands, including Fendi, Ray-Ban, Super X and Monèt.
According to reports, Wang has spent several thousands of dollars on luxury clothing, shoes and accessories from luxury brands such as Fendi, Off-White and Jimmy Choo.
The rapper also invests in real estate. In 2019, it was reported that he bought a luxury residential unit in The Cullinan complex in Hong Kong’s Union Square, Kowloon, one of the most expensive real estate destinations in the city, for a whopping HK$38.8 million ($5 million).
Wang not only splurges on himself but also buys expensive gifts for his friends and family.
In 2017, the artist bought a $16,000 custom-made friendship bracelet from IF & Co. Jewelers for fellow GOT7 member Mark Tuan.
Wang also gave his father an iPad Pro for his birthday last year, believing his father would enjoy watching films and videos on a bigger screen than his phone.
In January 2021, Wang, along with the six other members of GOT7, left JYP Entertainment after their seven-year contracts expired. However, fans believe the seven-member boy group may be preparing for a comeback this 2022 following multiple hints from the members.
In a reunion via Instagram Live earlier this year to mark their eighth anniversary, Park Jin-young told fans that the group would definitely come back, though he wasn’t sure when that might be, according to Inquirer.net.
During an online showcase in January for his new album "B," BamBam may have also spoiled their return. "Our members also talk about GOT7 activities a lot," he said before stopping himself and then adding, "If I say something more, I feel like I will say everything. So, I am gonna stop until here."
