Jadeveon Clowney Chooses South Carolina
The suspense surrounding Jadeveon Clowney has finally ended.
The highly regarded defensive end announced his decision to attend South Carolina at a news conference covered by ESPN.
The Gamecocks have been considered the favorites for the 6-foot-6, 240-pound defensive end from South Pointe High School. He announced on signing day, February 2, he would make his decision today his 18th birthday, and speculation has run wild since then.
Clowney is the No. 1 defensive end prospect by Scout.com, and Rivals.com rates him as the No.1 prospect overall. Other programs that were reportedly high on Clowney's list were Clemson, Alabama, and Auburn.
The signing is an enormous achievement for Steve Spurrier, who has failed to lure a recruit of this magnitude in his tenure with the Gamecocks.
