Jaguar unveils C-X75 electric concept car
Jaguar has unveiled a electric concept car that can run 900 kms to a charge with a top speed of 320 kms per hour. Christened C-X75, the car has been created to celebrate 75 years of the company.
The car which is on display at the high-profile Los Angeles Auto Show has already turned into the talk of the town after being exhibited in some parts of this city of Hollywood.
It possesses remarkable poise and grace yet at the same time has the excitement and potency of a true supercar, Ian Callum, design director of Jaguar cars, said.
This is as close to a pure art form as a concept car can get and is a worthy homage to 75 years of iconic Jaguar design, he added.
The 205 mph four-wheel drive supercar is capable of running in purely electric (zero tailpipe emissions) mode for 68 miles on a six-hour domestic plug-in charge.
Built with lightweight aluminum panels and chassis, the C-X75 is a 4WD vehicle.
Besides being powered by 145kw electric motors at all wheels, it has a pair of micro gas-turbines that provide another 140Kw of charge and extend the range to 900 km.
The innovative, lightweight micro gas-turbines are also capable of very quickly and efficiently recharging the Lithium-ion batteries, giving the car a theoretical range of 560 miles, the car maker said.
