Jalen Ramsey of the Jacksonville Jaguars requested for a trade earlier this month but nothing has transpired so far. And if recent reports are true, it appears a trade involving the 21-year-old cornerback may take some time.

Sources tell ESPN, the Jaguars have shown little to no indication that they are interested in trading the Pro Bowl cornerback. Further, the same source says that a trade would have been done by now. If this is the case, it may become a problem for both parties moving forward. That includes Ramsey opting to sit out and force the hand of the Jaguars to take his trade request seriously.

And based on a new report by ESPN, Ramsey may have done just that. The fifth overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft has reportedly called in sick and will not be practicing on Monday. He claims he has the flu and does not feel well enough to practice. Could this be a move to force the hand of the Jaguars to finally trade him?

It all depends on the findings of team physicians. But it appears that Ramsey is indeed ill and insinuations of it being a bargaining chip would be a bit off.

"[A player missing practice with an illness] has happened -- I don't want to exaggerate and say hundreds of times, but it's happened quite a bit," said coach Doug Marrone. "It's happened here since I've been the head coach a couple of times. It's happened with Myles [Jack], where I actually was in the [team] hotel with him and he stayed there. It's happened."

Ramsey's request to be traded allegedly stems from an issue with the team's front office. Apparently, it was the last straw and the 24-year-old felt it was time to move on.

"Some disrespectful things were said on their end that made me definitely walk out and call my agent as soon as I walked out, and I told him, I said, 'It's time; my time is up here in Jacksonville. I want to ask for a trade,'" Ramsey said.

Depending on the findings of team physician Dr. Michael Yorio, Ramsey may be questionable against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. He does have time to recover from the flu-like illness. However, there is also the question of whether he wants to play or not.
