Jaimie Alexander Explains Why Sif Wasn’t Part Of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’: ‘It’s Timing’
Jaimie Alexander recently revealed that she didn’t manage to reprise her role as Lady Sif in “Thor: Ragnarok” due to “timing.”
The actress currently plays the lead role in NBC’s “Blindspot,” and she told Yahoo Movies that the filming for the TV series and the movie happened around the same time.
“I was asked, but the timing of when they were going to shoot and when ‘Blindspot’ was gonna shoot – it was pretty much the same time. So there was a conflict there. I was hoping for more of a notice from the studio so I could make it work, but it was a short notice thing. They called and said, ‘Hey, by the way, would you come to do this?’ I said there is no way I could make that work that fast,” she said.
But this does not mean Alexander didn’t try. She did, but then “Blindspot” was also filming on a different continent which made it impossible to go back and forth between the two projects. “So it was sad. I was bummed about it,” she said.
In May 2016, Alexander responded to a fan who was extremely disappointed over Alexander not being included as part of the cast list. The fan tweeted Alexander, and the actress simply replied, “Don’t worry.” This led fans to believe that Alexander will still reprise her role as Lady Sif.
Meanwhile, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige previously addressed Sif’s absence from “Thor: Ragnarok” during an interview with Collider last week. He said that there’s hope for the character’s return in some other franchise. “If she had been on Asgard, she might not be alive, so that’s one of the advantages,” he said.
When asked if she would be open to return in a future project, Alexander said “yes.” “I love Marvel. I’d be happy to do other projects with them at any time. They’re a great company – I love all the guys and girls over there… And of course, who doesn’t want to be a superhero?” she said.
“Thor: Ragnarok” also stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and more.
