Jake Gyllenhaal Says Love-Making Scenes With Jennifer Aniston Felt Like 'Torture' [Video]
Jake Gyllenhaal says he had a crush on his co-star Jennifer Aniston while they were filming "The Good Girl," which made it really difficult for him to do love-making scenes.
Speaking on "The Howard Stern Show," Gyllenhaal revealed that it was "tough" filming love-making scenes with Aniston when they worked together in the 2002 romantic movie.
The 40-year-old actor recalled his experience working with the "Friends" actress and noted that it was "torture" for him. "But it was also not torture. I mean, come on, it was like a mix of both," he explained.
Gyllenhaal explained how love-making scenes were filmed and why they were awkward.
"Weirdly, love scenes are awkward, because there are maybe 30, 50 people watching it? That doesn't turn me on," he said. "It's oddly mechanical. And also, it's a dance, you're choreographing for a camera. You can get in it, but it's like a fight scene, you have to choreograph those scenes."
The actor also recalled how they used the pillow technique to film the scenes. "The pillow technique was used," he explained. "That was just preemptive and used generally always when actually in a horizontal place in that movie."
Gyllenhaal said it was Aniston's idea and that it was "very kind" of her to suggest that before they began filming those scenes.
This is not the first time the actor has spoken about his crush on Aniston. The "Brokeback Mountain" star revealed in 2016 that it was difficult for him to work with Aniston because he liked her.
"She's a rough one, you know, not likable. So hard to compliment," he told People. "I will say, I had a crush on her for years. And working with her was not easy. I was – um, yeah. That's all I'm going to say. It was lovely. It wasn't hard, that's what I would say."
Gyllenhaal will be next seen in the movie "Ambulance," which is currently under post-production. It is slated to release on Feb. 18, 2022. Aniston's "The Morning Show" Season 2 is currently streaming on Apple TV+.
