Jake Paul, one of the most controversial and talked-about figures in combat sports today, has signed a multi-year deal with an American mixed martial arts (MMA) organization in the form of the Professional Fighters League (PFL).

The announcement was made on Thursday, January 5 with the promotion posting a video on its social media platforms that shows Paul himself breaking the news.

"I've officially signed, as an MMA fighter to the fastest-growing sports league in the world, the PFL," Paul said in the video.

As mentioned, the 25-year-old will be competing in MMA for the company and is expected to make his league debut in 2023.

Apart from being a competitor, Paul shared that he's also one of the co-founders of the outfit's Pay-Per-View Super Fight Division, alongside company chairman Donn Davis, PFL CEO Peter Murray and his business partner Nakisa Bidarian, who was previously the chief financial officer of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Paul and Bidarian are now also shareholders in PFL.

Paul was likewise given the title of "Head of Fighter Advocacy," which simply means that the influencer-turned-fighter will be using his platform to put the spotlight on PFL fighters.

The social media sensation has over 25 million combined followers on Instagram and Twitter.

"I, personally, will be deeply involved in making sure that the PFL is the best place in the world for fighters," Paul stated.

Paul, who has been a strong advocate for increasing fighter pay, claimed that in PFL's newly-established PPV Super Fight Division, athletes will get 50% of the revenue.

Moreover, Paul asserted that he offered former UFC star Nate Diaz a two-fight deal, which would see them first square off inside the boxing ring and then meet in the PFL for an MMA bout six months later.

Whether or not this actually comes to fruition remains to be seen.

Paul is probably the highest-profile signing in PFL history as it will definitely bring more eyes to the league, especially if "The Problem Child" does step inside the cage.

Perhaps the most successful YouTuber-turned-pugilist today, Paul has put together an undefeated 6-0 record with wins over the likes of Nate Robinson, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley (twice) and Anderson Silva.

While many continue to discredit Paul's success inside the squared-circle, others have come to his defense and praised his work and dedication to boxing.

Now, after "disrupting the sport of boxing," Paul declared that he plans to do the same in MMA.
