James Gunn Reveals Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel Never Visited 'GOTG' Or 'Thor' Sets
Director James Gunn has revealed that Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, who lent their voices for Rocket and Groot characters respectively, never visited the sets of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise or "Thor" franchise.
Gunn disclosed on Twitter on Wednesday that there are only six weeks left of filming "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3." A fan then questioned him in the comments that why Cooper wasn't seen in Australia while Diesel was spotted in the country, where the movie has reportedly been filmed.
The 55-year-old filmmaker clarified, "Neither Vin nor Bradley have ever been on the set of a Guardians film (nor on a Thor film to my knowledge)."
Cooper and Diesel have been part of the Marvel movies since 2014 as they are giving voiceovers for CGI characters. Now, the director has confirmed that these two actors have never visited the sets.
It is worth noting that there are other CGI characters in the Marvel projects like Hulk (portrayed by Mark Ruffalo) and Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) who appeared on the sets to perform real-time action using motion capture, which helps to create the CGI.
Gunn has been actively answering fans on Twitter and also denying the rumors about the franchise.
A Twitter user shared a post last week featuring Marvel characters Thanos and Gamora together alongside the Disney+ logo, suggesting a prequel of the franchise. "RUMOR: Disney+ Guardians of The Galaxy prequel series focuses on Gamora’s family-like relationship with Nebula and Thanos," the user suggested. Gunn retweeted the post and wrote: "Lol no - he tortured them, not exactly a “family-like” relationship."
On the work front, Gunn is all set to release "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special" in December this year, while "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is slated to release on May 23, 2023.
Besides directing Marvel movies, Gunn is also writing a screenplay for the animated action movie, "Wile E. Coyote," which is expected to release on July 21, next year. He is also writing a crime-action TV series, "Starsky & Hutch."
Cooper, on the other hand, will be next featured in the movie "Maestro," while Diesel will be featured in "Fast & Furious 10," "xXx 4," "Muscle" and "Furya."
