Royal fans recently congratulated James Hewitt on being a grandfather after it was announced that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child.

“James Hewitt becoming a granddad, congrats!” one person tweeted.

“Hope baby looks nothing like James Hewitt or the rumors will start again #RoyalBaby,” another person wrote.

“There are not enough congratulations going about for James Hewitt on the announcement he’ll be a grandfather,” another person wrote.

Throughout the years, Hewitt has been linked to Prince Harry, and multiple publications have claimed that the former is the latter’s real dad and not Prince Charles.

Hewitt, 60, had an affair with Princess Diana during the fallout of her marriage to Prince Charles. And in 1986, after Prince Harry was born, the two had an affair once again. Their relationship also took place at the time when Prince Charles was seeing Camilla Parker Bowles.

But last year, Hewitt denied that he is Prince Harry’s father. And when asked why he thinks the rumors have not died down even though the Princess of Wales has been dead for so long, he gave a reasonable answer.

“It sells papers. It’s worse for Harry probably, the poor chap,” he said.

According to Hewitt he never regretted his affair with the late Princess Diana. However, he feels sorry for some of the things that were caused by their affair.

Prince Harry and Markle’s baby announcement took place on Monday after they arrived in Australia for a 16-day overseas tour. After spending a few days in the continent, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also visit New Zealand, Fiji, and the Kingdom of Tonga. They will also be attending this year’s Invictus Games in Sydney.

Markle’s firstborn is due in the spring of 2019. There are some speculations suggesting that her eldest child may share the same birthday with Queen Elizabeth II. The former actress is also expected to give birth at St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing just like Princess Diana and Kate Middleton.
