‘Jane The Virgin’ Season 4 Spoilers: Xo To Have A ‘Medical Scare’
“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 brought a lot of twists and turns before The CW show took its mid-season break this December. Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) kissed, while Alba (Ivonne Col) turned down the proposal of (Alfonso DiLuca). The twin sister of Petra (Yael Grobglas), Anezka (also Grobglas), is now “Ned Stark dead,” and Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Rogelio (Jaime Camil) have decided to go to couple’s therapy.
Navedo told AM New York that Xo and Ro will get more than they bargained for in couple’s therapy, since her character will deal with a pretty big medical issue. “There’s a medical scare that comes up in the future for Xiomara,” Navedo teased. “I won’t go into details, but there’s a significant issue that turns up for her. I’m curious to see where it’s going to go.”
She added showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman made a conscious effort to let Xo “evolve as a person,” so she is confident Xo will deal with the scare in a mature light.
“Imagine if Xiomara in season 4 is the same as in season 1. That’s not just reflective of our potential as human beings. People do grow,” she stressed.
Urman even told TV Line that Rogelio, although initially reluctant to go to therapy, will actually have fun during their sessions. “Rogelio finds he enjoys it more than he thought he would,” she said.
Whatever happens in their marriage, Urman said they will always try to make things work because “they’re committed to their relationship.”
On the other hand, Camil teased that a new character will be introduced during the second half of the season that will make Rogelio’s life more colorful than it already is.
“Let’s say that a new character is going to be introduced that is going to make Rogelio’s life amazingly complex, amazingly rich, and it’s going to bring a lot to the show,” he told Bustle. “On a personal level, I am extremely honored and humbled and extremely happy that this is gonna happen.”
“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 airs Fridays on The CW at 9 p.m. EST.
