‘Jane The Virgin’ Stars Address Food Waste Issue: ‘America Is One Of The Most Wasteful Nations On Earth’
“Jane the Virgin” stars Justin Baldoni and Brett Dier, who play rivals Rafael Solano and Michael Cordero in The CW show, have teamed up to raise awareness for food wastage.
On his Instagram account (@justinbaldoni), the actor posted a video featuring Dier inviting people over to eat free food prepared by a popular chef. However, there’s a catch - the food they were eating are actually scraps from other people’s plates.
“Did you know that 40% of all food is thrown away every year?” Baldoni writes on his caption. “At @wayfarerent we are always looking for new and creative ways to talk about the stuff that matters. America is one of the most wasteful nations on earth and the issue of food waste is close to our hearts. Check out #junkfood starring @brettdier directed by our own @meybodisattva :) #junkfood #junkfoodtruck #savethefood.”
In “Jane the Virgin” Season 3, Michael is going to be fighting for his life, while Rafael is going to undergo certain emotional changes.
Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman told Entertainment Weekly that Rafael’s change is due to the fact that Jane chose Michael over him.
“Once he makes that change and isn’t head over heels for her any more, how does that change their relationship?” Urman said. “How does that affect their co-parenting? How does that change their dynamics in general? And what are they like without that yearning at the center? That’s going to be something we explore and twist in interesting ways.”
Urman even hinted that Jane might have another suitor in the future. According to TV Line, “Young and the Restless” star Miles Gaston Villanueva has been cast as Sam, who was in Jane’s life long before she met either Michael and Rafael. He is described as “intellectual and sexy,” which is just the kind of guy Jane likes.
“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
