  • Jason Derulo was criticized after snubbing BTS in a video celebrating their "Savage Love" remix's success
  • The singer later mentioned BTS in a tweet
  • The “Savage Love” remix with Jungkook, J-Hope and Suga topped the Billboard Hot 100

Jason Derulo has been slammed on social media after allegedly failing to give credit to "Savage Love" remix collaborator BTS following its success.

The K-pop group's fandom, ARMY, recently came down heavily on Derulo for not tagging BTS in a post celebrating the success of the "Savage Love" remix. Even though he later mentioned them in a tweet, the snub did not sit well with BTS fans.

The "Savage Love" remix, which rose to no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last week, was Derulo’s first song to have topped the chart in 11 years. The last time he achieved the milestone was in 2009 with "Whatcha Say."

Derulo celebrated the achievement by posting a video on TikTok, where he is seen dining with his friends with the original “Savage Love” (without BTS) playing in the background. Though he tagged many of his friends, he failed to mention his latest collaborator.

"It's a celebration @#savagelove @hannastocking @ondreazlopez @charlyjordan @itstaylerholder @justmaiko @sommeray @jena @mrmovi3," he captioned the video.

As soon as the video caught BTS fans' attention, they aired their thoughts over the snub on social media, and "#JasonDeruloIsOverParty" soon began trending on Twitter.

“BTS will just ignore this, but ARMYS won't let this go. Yes, Jason Derulo, we're the worst fandom when you messed up with our boys,” one tweeted.

“I feel bad for them, they literally worked for it. So embarrassing Mr. Derulo,” another BTS fan wrote.

A third fan claimed, “[I] think it’s important to highlight that this is not the first time @jasonderulo has done this. he leeched off of the success of lay and nct for his own personal gain on the charts and never expressed genuine gratitude or respect. guess some people never learn—sad.”

Derulo later shared the video on Twitter, this time mentioning BTS.

"Wish @BTS_twt @jawsh_685 was here for the celebration! We did it! #1 on billboard chart! Savage Love," he tweeted.

However, some BTS fans felt the damage was already done and did not forgive him for snubbing the boy band.

Another fan wrote, “Jason Derulo literally admitted to using BTS. I been knew he was fake the first time he asked for 10M likes on his TikTok with BTS. Hopefully y'all can see it now.”

Derulo first released “Savage Love” in July with TikTok sensation Jawsh 685. The singer came up with the new remix version featuring Jungkook, J-Hope and Suga only recently, and the second version topped the charts within a few days of its release on Oct. 2.
