Jason Momoa Offers First Look At 'Aquaman 2' Stealth Suit [Photos]
Jason Momoa has offered fans the first look at his new “Aquaman 2” costume. The actor took to Instagram on Sunday to share images of himself as Arthur Curry in the highly anticipated “Aquaman” sequel, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
The first photo showed the actor in his green and orange costume reminiscent of the hero’s original comic book look, while the second photo showed the character in a darker costume.
Called “stealth suit,” Aquaman’s new look features a skin-tight metallic suit with hints of dark blue and grey details on the arms and thighs.
“Second round. New suit. More action,” wrote Momoa in the caption.
“Aquaman 2” director James Wan shared the same photos on his Instagram account, adding new details about the suit.
“Here’s @prideofgypsies in the classic #Aquaman suit AND a sneak peek at his other outfit—the stealth suit. Atlantean tech based on cephalopod’s camouflaging ability. David Leslie Johnson and I were inspired by the 80’s blue suit,” he explained, referring to the Aquaman suit that was popularized some three decades ago.
Momoa pitched “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” to Warner Bros. during the filming of the first “Aquaman” film, which opened in theaters in 2018. The sequel is expected to explore the several underwater kingdoms introduced in the first film. With “Aquaman” holding the record of the highest-grossing DC film based on a DC Comics character, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is expected to rake in big in the box office.
Plot details of the upcoming film are kept under wraps, however, Wan previously hinted at a potential location in the movie when he shared a photo of the clapperboard used on the sets of “Aquaman 2,” codenamed “Necrus.” In the DC universe, Necrus is a lost underwater city that doesn’t exist in a single location but appears in various parts of the ocean and is governed by an alien satellite. It remains to be seen whether the storyline will be featured in the movie.
Aside from Momoa, other “Aquaman 2” cast members include Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Temuera Morrison.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.
