Jazz Jennings’ Boyfriend’s Mom Still Considers Reality Star A Man
Jazz Jennings’ relationship with boyfriend Ahmir Steward could be hitting a roadblock soon after the latter revealed that his mom still considers the reality star a man.
Things have been going so well for Jazz and Ahmir in the current season of “I Am Jazz.” The young couple’s relationship was quickly accepted by Jazz’s family and friends and they are pleased with the support given to them.
However, Ahmir has revealed that things are actually different back at his home in Philadelphia. According to him, his mother isn’t really as accepting as Jazz’s mom when it comes to their romantic relationship.
The thing is, Ahmir’s mom still sees Jazz as a man and so she considers her son gay for dating the reality star. Ahmir also disclosed to Jazz that his mom still refers to Jazz as a “he” even though he only sees Jazz as a female.
“… She didn’t acknowledge you for who you are. So it was still like, she would say he, and that’s a man because born a man, and you know,” Ahmir tells Jazz in a clip shared by TLC on YouTube.
“So she misgendered me. So she just sees me as a guy,” Jazz responds with a bit of disgust on her face.
In his solo camera moment, Ahmir confesses that he was hurt when his mom told him that he was gay for going out with Jazz.
“The most hurtful thing my mom said was that Jazz was still a man and that I would be gay for being in a relationship with Jazz,” he says before clarifying that he is not at all gay because he is clearly not attracted to men. He then quips that “Jazz is a female.”
Ahmir also reveals that he might be kicked out of the house once he comes back to Philly all because he’s in a relationship with Jazz. Upon hearing this from her boyfriend, the LGBT advocate voices her desire to talk to Ahmir’s mom just so she could change her mind.
But Ahmir does not agree to this. He says that that’s just how his mom is and they can’t change her views and opinions. Ahmir then suggests that they should just enjoy their time together for now instead of worrying about everything else.
“I Am Jazz” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.
