Jazz Jennings has revealed her favorite part of Pride Month following the announcement that her TLC reality series, “I Am Jazz,” is finally coming back to television after more than a year.
The 20-year-old LGBT rights activist and TV personality took to Instagram Wednesday to share a photo of her smiling for the camera while standing in front of a sparkly rainbow-themed backdrop. In her caption, Jennings discussed what it is about the Pride festivities that stand out for her.
“My favorite part about pride is just being able to celebrate with the LGBTQ+ community. I think Pride is all about loving yourself unconditionally and embracing your uniqueness, and then sharing that love and pride with the community abroad,” she wrote.
The reality star then noted that it’s such a beautiful thing to see everyone come together to celebrate while still embracing each other’s uniqueness. She concluded her post by saying that she’s really proud to be “a part of Pride.”
Jennings’ post comes a week after Variety exclusively revealed that her and her family’s reality series has been renewed for Season 7. TLC streaming and network originals president Howard Lee confirmed the news to the outlet.
“Alongside viewers and fans, we have watched Jazz grow into a beautiful, young woman and champion for transgender rights all over the world. Her advocacy and impact have made a significant mark in history, and we are honored to continue following her story in the next chapter of her life,” Lee said.
Jennings also issued a statement to Variety saying that she’s happy to continue sharing her story because she knows it can help many people who may be going through the same experiences as her.
“Our goal is always to help people and to share a message of positivity, love and acceptance, and I think that we’re continuing to do that by sharing our story,” she was quoted as saying by the outlet.
Although Season 6 wrapped in March 2020, filming for the previous installment took place in 2019. This means production on the new season is taking place about two years after the last season.
“I Am Jazz” premiered in 2015, and the TLC show has so far covered Jennings’ transition. Season 6 ended with the lead star preparing for college, so the next installment is likely to focus more on Jennings’ college life while also covering her family’s life back in South Florida.
