JC Penney Reopens Some Stores: Which Locations Are Open? [Complete List]

After filing for bankruptcy on May 15, JC Penney has begun reopening its stores amid the coronavirus pandemic. The retailer, which has plans to close 242 stores in bankruptcy, has reopened open over 150 locations.

JC Penney previously said it would use a phased-in approach to reopening its locations across the U.S. The company has about 850 retail stores that closed in March because of the coronavirus outbreak. A month later, the company furloughed the majority of its workforce.

Now, JC Penney is reopening stores with new safety restrictions in place to protect its customers and employees from the spread of COVID-19. The company said it will undergo a nightly cleaning of its stores, promote social distancing, and provide a contactless checkout process.

Employees of JC Penney will also be provided masks, and plexiglass shields will be placed at checkout registers. The company has also extended its return policy and allows for more time to use rewards. JC Penney also said it will offer curbside pickup at select stores.

Stores have also reduced their hours to 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
