Cosmetics mogul Jeffree Star said he was hurt by the criticisms over the launch of his “Blood Money” palette and collection.

Star dropped a trailer on his YouTube channel Saturday for his all-green palette Blood Money. In the photoshoot for his latest Jeffree Star Cosmetics collection, the beauty guru, who is known to give each of his creations a different theme, posed in front of his lavish $14.6 million mansion with a 10-foot alligator as he showed off his all-new “full green fantasy.”

Like previous launches, he introduced each product in the collection, which also included a mini velour liquid lipstick bundle, lip glosses, eyeliners and highlighters. Many of his fans, however, did not seem impressed and criticized him for his lack of excitement and energy.

“He doesn't even seem excited, he's just going through the motions,” one viewer wrote.

“Man. The audio was just irritating in this. Everything about this launch video felt phoned in tbh. I bought blood lust because how much passion there was behind the release video [and I love purple]. This was not even close to the same level fam,” another commented.

Star was quick to notice the wave of negative comments and decided to address the backlash in a more personal video Tuesday.

“There was an overwhelming amount of intense comments,” he began.

Talking about his shooting experience on that day, Star explained, “I just want to share, (just us) that I was having a horrific day when I filmed that reveal. I wanted to create a larger than life moment to match the feel of the collection which is why I filmed the (I am calling like) sneak peak to blood money with the mansion and the alligator.”

Star added that what hurt him the most regarding the backlash was knowing that his fans were disappointed and that it came off like “it wasn’t personal.”

“I had no idea that people would take it as ‘he doesn’t know his shade names’. I name all my palettes, these are all my concepts. Jeffree Star cosmetics is my life, it is my child, I wake up every day so excited to create, to do new formulas and I have so much more to prove in this industry, I have so many new things coming, but I never want you guys to think it’s not genuine,” the YouTuber star shared.

“I think that really hurt me and I was almost scared to admit that, but I just always want to be authentic myself,” he continued.

Star’s fans responded to his new video with a lot of love and positivity.

“Honestly a video like this is better than the crazy setups I just love when Jeffree sits down and talks about his make up like this I know he puts a lot of money and effort to those videos but sometimes you don’t need all that extra stuff,” one fan commented.

“Y’all were too hard on him, all his vids are entertaining,” another user wrote.

The Blood Money palette and collection will be available starting Friday.
