Jeffree Star Cosmetics Releases New Products Following Shane Dawson Controversy: When To Buy
Jeffree Star Cosmetics has kept a relatively low profile in recent weeks after the reemergence of Shane Dawson's controversial past, but that all changed this week due to the makeup brand introducing several new offerings.
On Friday, nine Velour Lip Liners are set to launch, which will mark the first new JSC additions after Dawson, who collaborated with Star to create the Conspiracy Palette, faced criticism. What shades are making their debut and how much are they?
In a series of Instagram posts, the makeup brand previewed the new Lip Liners ahead of their official arrival. The new products being added to the line on Friday include shades such as Prom Night, Crocodile Tears, Cherry Wet, Gemini, and more. Each will retail for $16.
"Here are all 9 shades that will be joining our #velourlipliner family," the makeup brand stated, as seen in the post below.

Additionally, the brand also shared a post that said the Velour Lip Liners, which now come in over 26 "highly pigmented shades," are better than ever and are can be paired with the brand's Velour Liquid Lipsticks.
As for what the new Velour Lip Liners will look like once they are applied, the JSC website states the new formula has a "stunning suede matte finish" and "creamier texture" that allows for multi-layer application without unwanted buildup. Additionally, these products, which are Vegan and Cruelty-Free, can also be resharpened.
These new products follow a series of other 2020 launches from the cosmetics brand, including the highly-anticipated Blood Lust palette and a 420-inspired green collection.
As for the controversy that has surrounded Star and Dawson over the course of the past few months, some fans began to question whether or not the "Beautiful World of Jeffree Star" personalities would ultimately decide to leave YouTube after their polarizing pasts resurfaced. Not only did Star face backlash for the creation of images that included a swastika, but Dawson angered some due to a controversial VidCon appearance where he once performed in blackface. However, since the current discussion has taken place, they have each given their side of the story and issued apologies.
Those who are interested in purchasing the new Velour Lip Liners can do so by visiting the official Jeffree Star Cosmetics website after their initial launch at 1 p.m. EST.
