  • Jenelle Evans has been suffering from a mysterious illness that doctors haven't been able to diagnose since 2018
  • The former "Teen Mom 2" star has been doing tests but still has no concrete answer to what causes her pain
  • Evans said she suspects she has syringomyelia

Jenelle Evans is searching for answers about her mysterious health issues and has suggested that a rare nervous disorder could be a possible explanation for her symptoms.

The "Teen Mom" star shared on a video posted on YouTube Monday that she "finally [has] answers" about her mysterious health issues, which began in 2018. At the time, she visited a neurologist in New York City and underwent tests after becoming concerned over the "popping" she'd been experiencing in her neck. The results "came up abnormal, but not too abnormal to be concerning."

"The doctors really couldn’t figure out my weird symptom," Evans said. "Fast-forward to September 2020, I ended up [having] this really bad neck problem. My neck kept cracking over and over again. It really sucked because it happened for months and months and months."

According to the reality star, the popping in her neck would occur around "10 times a day," and she would also get headaches. She had an MRI done on her neck, but the scan didn't show any conclusive results.

Evans then visited a neurologist, whom she said has been testing her nerve and muscle response "for the past four or five months." The findings led the specialist to believe there was a problem within her spine.

Evans then went on to get a CT myelogram diagnostic test, which uses dye to detect issues in the spinal canal. She was told the procedure would be "painless," but she said she experienced "excruciating pain" and "ended up having to get emergency medicine." She was bedridden for two weeks and still hadn't received an answer regarding what was causing her pain.

Another MRI done on a different area on her back showed “pretty concerning” results, according to the former "16 and Pregnant" star.

When Evans looked up her symptoms, she came across a condition called syringomyelia. It has a range of different causes, and she believes it may be the closest possible diagnosis to her condition.

"This is the one that I think relates to [my] condition a lot, unfortunately," she said. "It’s chiari malformation – a condition in which the brain tissues protrude into your spinal canal. I’m having a lot of neck pain and I’m having the neck cracking all the way right here where the base of my skull is and a little bit above my collarbone. I don’t know what’s wrong with my neck, but whatever’s wrong with my neck obviously caused me to get a cyst and that’s not good. None of this is good."

However, the reality star made it clear that she won't jump to conclusions without consulting her doctor. She also said she hopes that medical experts can figure out her condition soon because she has ongoing projects.

Evans was fired from "Teen Mom 2" in 2019, and although she saw it coming, her abrupt exit from the series, which she was part of for nearly a decade, still left her a "little bit shocked." But she said she has nothing but love for the network.

"I was upset, I’m still upset, but this is a new chapter for me and my family," Evans told Us Weekly. "It’s shocking still but I respect their decision and have nothing but love for MTV."
