Contrary to the belief of many, Aniston said that her marriages —with Pitt and Justin Theroux— were successful. Aniston spoke to Elle for the magazine’s January 2019 issue about her previous relationships and pointed out that when they ended, it was a choice made out of their desire to be happy, and sometimes, that happiness no longer exist within the said arrangement, People reported.
Pitt and Aniston’s relationship began in 1998. The couple then got married in 2000. Three years later, the former couple broke up. Aniston filed for divorce two months after the split, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. Pitt moved on with Jolie, while Aniston was with Justin Theroux. Apparently, Pitt and Aniston’s relationship with their respective partners suffered the same ending.
We may sometimes wonder how to possibly remain friends with an ex-husband or an ex-wife.
Love.
Psychology Today published an article which spoke of a love shared by the former couples not truly dying. Seth Meyers, Psy.D. , licensed clinical psychologist, explained that the love shared by two individuals did not go away, rather it was only repressed. He further expounded that one cannot simply stop loving a person whom he or she learned to love day after day when they were together. According to Dr. Meyers, he finds it impressive to see former couples remain friends after a divorce because it “takes strength and character and an understanding of the bigger picture to rise above the hurt.”
