Jennifer Aniston Hits Back At Netizen Who Called Her Out For Cutting Ties With Unvaccinated People
KEY POINTS
- One netizen asked Jennifer Aniston why she's worried about having unvaccinated people around her when she is already vaccinated
- The "Friends" alum said she could still get the virus and pass it to other people with underlying conditions
- Aniston pointed out in her response to the netizen that her decision was more than just for her own sake
Jennifer Aniston explained why she cut ties with those who refused to get vaccinated on her Instagram Story.
The "Friends" alum boldly said in a recent interview that she lost some people in her life because she cut ties with those who refused to get vaccinated and those who didn't want to disclose their vaccination status amid the pandemic. On Thursday, she decided to address a question from one of her followers about the issue.
"These comments," read Aniston's first post, which included a snap of her wearing a black face mask that she previously shared on Instagram.
"But if she's vaccinated she's protected correct? Why be worried about unvaxxed around her?" a question from one of her followers was visibly seen in her post.
The "Murder Mystery" star understood that many might be wondering about the same thing, so she decided to respond to the question in a follow-up post.
"Because if you have the variant, you are still able to give it to me," Aniston wrote. "I may get slightly sick but I will not be admitted to a hospital and or die. BUT I CAN give it to someone else who does not have the vaccine and whose health is compromised (or has a previous existing condition) — and therefore I would put their lives at risk. THAT is why I worry. We have to care about more than just ourselves here."
In Aniston's interview with InStyle, the "Cake" actress shared her take on the vaccination issue. She made it clear that she is staying away from anti-vaxxers.
"It's a real shame. I've just lost a few people in my weekly routine who have refused or did not disclose [whether or not they had been vaccinated], and it was unfortunate," Aniston said.
"I feel it's your moral and professional obligation to inform, since we're not all podded up and being tested every single day. It's tricky because everyone is entitled to their own opinion — but a lot of opinions don't feel based in anything except fear or propaganda."
Twitter users have mixed opinions on Aniston's statement. Although many praised her decision, several were also against it because there are people who are advised to not get vaccinated due to health issues.
"Ugh I don’t drop friends because they’re not vaccinated. I have a good friend who has serious health issues and surgeries. Her doctor said she can’t get the vaccine. That’s a fact. So I can’t see her but we’ll always be friends. Bye Jen I don’t want you as my friend," one wrote.
