Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux: When Did The Exes Last See Each Other?
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux met up for the last time on Valentine’s Day, one day before releasing a statement announcing their split.
A source close to Aniston told People that the exes saw each other late at night on the Feast of Saint Valentine. During the rendezvous, Aniston and Theroux came to a decision that they would make the announcement about their breakup the next day. According to the insider, the “Leftovers” actor flew on a private jet to Los Angeles to see Aniston “one last time.”
Although the pair ultimately decided to reveal their separation to the public on Feb. 15, the source revealed that the former lovers were actually divided on when to announce their breakup.
“Jen didn’t want to announce it for as long as possible, because she wanted to avoid the media attention,” the source said of the 49-year-old actress. “[Theroux, meanwhile,] wanted to make the announcement so he can live his life.”
Aniston and Theroux, 46, announced that they had broken up after seven years together and two and a half years of marriage. “In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation,” Aniston said in the statement she released via her longtime publicist Stephen Huvane. “This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.”
“Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly,” Aniston continued. “Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another. ”
After the breakup news, some tabloids reported that the pair’s split has something to do with Theroux hugging Naomi Watts at an event last year. But Gossip Cop recently debunked that rumor with a source close to Aniston and Theroux saying that the Watts story is “false.”
While Aniston and Theroux have yet to reveal the real reason behind their split, a source told People shortly after the breakup announcement that the pair’s differing personalities and interests put a strain on their relationship. They are “very different people,” the source said.
