Jane Krakowski and Jennifer Aniston auditioned for the same role years ago, and it was the former who snagged the part.
Aniston made a break when she starred o the hit TV show “Friends,” which ran for a decade. However, before making it big, she didn’t get the role she wanted during her first audition.
Just recently, Krakowski sat for an interview with People. She revealed that she had a tough competition back in the day with Aniston as both of them auditioned to play the character of a teen runaway on the soap opera “Search for Tomorrow.” Krakowski got the role for the TV show.
After 10 years, Krakowski also auditioned for Rachel Green’s character on “Friends.” Apparently, she didn’t beat Aniston because the “Murder Mystery” star ended up playing the iconic role.
“I’m pretty sure every actor within that age group tried to get on ‘Friends’,” Krakowski said. “It was just one of those shows that everybody wanted to get an audition for and be on. And wisely so. It was a show of a generation.”
Krakowski didn’t get both roles, just like Aniston. But things worked out for the best for the both of them.
“I may have gotten the job for Jennifer’s first audition, but I think it’s turned out pretty well for her,” Krakowski said with a laugh.
Krakowski also starred on Fox’s dramedy “Ally McBeal” and NBC’s long-running hit “30 Rock.” She considers the latter as one of her “best experiences” as an actress.
“It was truly one of the best experiences of my career. Certainly one of the most fun. And lifelong friendships. When you get to be in a show for seven seasons, it’s so lucky,” she shared.
“We’ll all be very bonded by our humor and by that experience because it was such a great experience for all of us. I think we all would consider it one of the most enjoyable shows we’ve ever been a part of,” she added.
As for Aniston, “Friends” lasted for 10 seasons and she formed a strong friendship with her co-stars David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry.
Aniston was romantically linked to Schwimmer. However, the actress has been very open about her close bond with all of her “Friends” co-stars and not just with Schwimmer.
“We’re lucky to actually love each other. We’re really fortunate that there’s not a bad seed in the bunch and yes, we were all really friends and cared about each other and had each other’s backs. We went through some really challenging times personally and were there for each other,” Aniston told Grazia in 2015.
