Is Jennifer Lawrence Staging Her Oscars Falls? Twitter Reacts After Actress Trips A Second Time At Oscar Awards
Jennifer Lawrence has been deemed America’s “girl next door” since being thrust into the spotlight following “The Hunger Games” in 2012. And it seems quite accurate. The 23-year-old star is gorgeous, but she does not place emphasis on her looks.
In interviews, she has no problem talking about embarrassing butt-plug stories, for example, or admitting that she couldn't care less about dieting and adhering to Hollywood’s super-skinny standards. Lawrence also has no qualms about tripping at huge events. But now people are questioning the authenticity of her actions.
Last year, Lawrence won the Oscar for best actress for her role in “Silver Linings Playbook.” When her name was announced, she jumped up and glided from her front-row seat to the stairs in her virgin-pink Dior gown. But somewhere on the stairs, she fell from grace. She paused for a moment before continuing up the stairs, and laughed off the embarrassing moment.
As everyone stood to their feet for her, she chuckled and said, "You guys are just standing up because I fell and that's really embarrassing." Reactions to her trip were, in general, positive. People saw her as even more of an “It” girl because she is down-to-earth and can trip and laugh it off when accepting the highest honor in her profession.
However, on Sunday, Lawrence tripped once again, and now fans are beginning to wonder if the whole thing is staged. “Jennifer Lawrence's trips are better staged and choreographed than any of your fave's tours. #soreal #sonatural [sic],” wrote @electrosimon on Twitter. @rnxvxvrxxr wrote, “Jennifer Lawrence’s publicity team [is] like ‘don’t forget to trip and look quirky if more attention is being payed to lupita than you [sic],’" referring to first-time Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o.
Lawrence, who was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for “American Hustle,” told Entertainment Weekly on the red carpet: "I did trip over a cone. I'm not safe."
The trip was captured by an E! camera and went viral online.
