KEY POINTS
- Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez's split was "a long time coming," a report says
- Lopez was reportedly embarrassed by Rodriguez's cheating rumors with Madison LeCroy
- Their split reportedly is not "a cut and dry breakup" as they also have businesses together
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have ended their two-year engagement, and a report says their split is related to his scandal with Madison LeCroy.
Romance rumors involving Rodriguez and the "Southern Charm" star surfaced after LeCroy confirmed back in January that she had been chatting with an "ex-MLB player." Now, an unnamed insider has confirmed to Page Six that Lopez and Rodriguez, who got engaged in 2019, are no longer together following his links with LeCroy.
"The Madison LeCroy scandal was the reason they finally broke up. There were already problems, but Jennifer was really embarrassed by it," the source told Page Six.
Multiple sources also confirmed the news to People. The power couple's split was reportedly "a long time coming."
"This has been a long time coming," an unnamed source told People. "They are tied in their business worlds so it's not a cut and dry break up. It's taken a while for them to even think about untangling it all."
LeCroy sparked romance rumors with Rodriguez after she was prodded by Andy Cohen during the "Southern Charm" Season 7 reunion special in January for more details about the "very famous, married ex-MLB player" she allegedly had "an affair" with.
However, LeCroy insisted that they had never met and only talked over the phone. She added that they never flirted and were only acquaintances.
"That’s the truth," she told Page Six in February, adding that they have "never been physical… never had any kind of anything. Just an acquaintance."
"He’s never physically cheated on his fiancée with me," she added.
The name that LeCroy mentioned was "bleeped" out on the show but confirmed to Page Six that it was Rodriguez's. She apparently "told them they couldn’t use that" and insisted that she didn't want to make an issue out of it.
"I don’t know what to do," she continued. "I have tried to be as quiet as possible. I don’t want anything bad for his family, or for mine. We are definitely innocent in this."
Rodriguez denied that he knew LeCroy when the scandal made headlines. However, Lopez and Rodriguez seemingly hinted about their single status in their most recent social media posts.
The former New York Yankee shared a selfie on a boat Friday. "Don't mind me, just taking a sail-fie," he wrote and asked his fans on Instagram, "What are your plans for the weekend?"
Meanwhile, Lopez shared a clip on Instagram on the same day of her laughing in various interviews. "Find a good reason to laugh today Sending everyone love," she wrote.
