Jennifer Lopez Caught Spitting Gum Into Assistant’s Hand In Between Takes
A video showing Jennifer Lopez spitting her gum into the hand of her assistant is currently making rounds online. The Hollywood actress-singer has since been called out for doing such a degrading act.
On Tuesday, notorious gossip site Media TakeOut published a video clip that captures Lopez’s questionable behavior in between takes of the production for her upcoming movie, “Second Act.” In the clip, J.Lo is seen lowering her head as her attendant hurries to catch the gum the Hollywood personality is spitting.
Surprisingly, Lopez’s assistant used her bare hand to receive the singer’s used gum. After catching J.Lo’s gum with her right hand, the assistant is seen clenching it and motioning to get away from the camera since the director was already close to yelling “action.”
Media TakeOut calls J.Lo’s gesture as “unthinkable” and also labeled the 48-year-old as an “over the top diva.” It wasn’t really clear if Lopez chewed gum as part of a sequence that was shot earlier.
While many of Lopez’s fans defended her behavior by pointing out that celebrities’ assistants are paid to do such things, many are still calling out the “On The Floor” hitmaker for allegedly degrading her assistant.
“You see how people are defending her? Saying this is the assistant’s job. People seem to think being an assistant means being an indentured servant. This woman didn’t take this job to get gums spit in her hands,” one commenter wrote. “How many reports of J.Lo acting like a straight up entitled [person] need to come out before people stop defending her behavior as ‘diva” and call her out for being the mean, entitled and uppity person she is.”
Neither Lopez nor her rep has commented on the issue thus far.
“Second Act” is an upcoming romantic comedy written by Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Justin Zackham. The movie is being directed by Peter Segal, who has helmed “50 First Dates,” “Get Smart” and “Grudge Match.”
Aside from Lopez, the upcoming film stars Vanessa Hudgens, Leah Remini, Milo Ventimiglia, Freddie Stroma, Larry Miller, Annaleigh Ashford and many more.
The movie is said to have similar elements as “Working Girl” and “Maid in Manhattan.” Lopez is portraying a big-box store employee who reinvents herself and her lifestyle and gets a shot at proving his worth as a street smarts person, Variety has learned.
