Is Jennifer Lopez Turning 'Hustlers' Into A Broadway Show?
Jennifer Lopez recently attended the Gotham Awards in New York City on Monday, and she spoke about how "Hustlers" is a New York City story. So is she ready to take the movie to New York's Great White Way?
“That's something that would be amazing," Lopez told Extra, who asked if she would turn the hit film into a Broadway production. "It really lends itself to a Broadway show, and to a live-performance show.”
Even if it does happen, we might not be seeing Lopez on the stage. “I don't know that I would do it. I would produce it, for sure. I don't know. Maybe. You never know with me,” Lopez said.
“Hustlers” hit the theaters on Sept. 13. and starred Lopez alongside Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo and Cardi B. On opening weekend the movie made $33.2 million making it the best start ever for STXfilms, Hollywood Reporter revealed.
Lopez talked to GQ on Nov. 18 about the success of the movie where she told them that she initially did the movie for free.
“I didn’t get paid a whole bunch of money for “Hustlers”,” she told GQ. “I did it for free and produced it. Like Jenny From the Block—I do what I love.”
Following the success of the movie Lopez said: "It became a movement. This is our movie, where we run [expletive]. They know it's all women producers, woman director, woman writer, all women starring in it. We've been watching men take advantage of women in movies for a long time, so it was a fun ride to see the tables turned.”
Lopez is set to host “Saturday Night Live” for the third time with musical guest DaBaby on Dec. 7 on NBC at 11:30 p.m. EST.
