On Thursday, Anthony announced the death of his mom, Guillermina Quiñones, on social media. The singer called his mom an angel, hero, rock, protector and inspiration in his lengthy post.
A few days prior to her death, Anthony asked his fans on social media to pray for his mother. According to Univision, Quiñones was hospitalized in Puerto Rico. Anthony and his current girlfriend, Raffaella Modugno, have been visiting her regularly.
Meanwhile, Lopez and Anthony have maintained an amicable relationship with each other since their divorce in 2014. Prior to this, Lopez told People that she was devastated when they decided to go their separate ways. “I think both Marc and I thought at the time we would be together for the next 40 years until we die. It was the biggest disappointment of my life so far. But I felt like at that time I had lost my way a little bit, of who I was trying to make the marriage work,” she said last year.
Lopez added that she had been in two failed marriages before Anthony so she was so focused on making things work that she forgot how to be herself. When asked if she has plans to get married again anytime soon, Lopez said that she needs to be happy on her own first. “If someone fits into that, great. But if they don’t, that’s OK too. As girls, I think we are taught from a very young age that someone is going to bring us our happiness,” she said.
