Jennifer Love Hewitt has welcomed her third baby with her husband Brian Hallisay. To her fans' delight, the baby boy is actually named after the child of the character she played in "Ghost Whisperer."

The 42-year-old singer and actress shared the wonderful news Thursday in an Instagram post.

"Well this is how my kids sent me to the hospital," she wrote in her post. "My belly was a big hit. 'It is said that women leave their bodies in labor… they travel to the stars to collect the souls of their babies, and return to this world together.' It was my greatest honor to go and collect you Aidan James. Now back to snuggles and resting."

Her announcement was accompanied by a black and white photo of her pregnant belly, which had what appeared to be a temporary tattoo of a winking eye and the words, "It's a boy," "9 months" and "Almost cooked."

The post has so far been liked by more than 132,000 fans, many of whom also took to the comments section to congratulate Hewitt and express their approval of Baby Aidan's name.

"I love how you named your child Aidan like Melinda's child in Ghost Whisperer. Congratulations!" one fan wrote.

"OMG you're naming him Aiden??? Like your "son" from Ghost Whisperer??? Congratulations Queen!!!" another noted.

It can be recalled that Hewitt played Melinda Gordon in "Ghost Whisperer," which ran from 2005 to 2010. In the series, her character had a child named Aiden Lucas.

Hewitt announced her pregnancy back in May. In an Instagram post, she wrote, "Oh baby! We have another one on the way. So excited to finally share this news with all of you. Thank you @clearblue for being part of our journey and giving us a platform to share this news!"

Hewitt, who is also mom to 7-year-old Autumn James and 6-year-old Atticus James, said that while they were open to growing their family, they were not expecting to have a third child at this time.

"We had always been open to a third, but definitely didn't think in the crazy year that the entire world was having that it would necessarily be this moment. I feel like we've been able to so far raise two really special kids who will be great role models. This has been such a pleasant, beautiful, surprising gift in this time to be able to get to do all that again with another little human," she said as per People.

She also shared a funny story on how she found out about her pregnancy.

"One night, my kids and I were laying in bed watching TV and a Clearblue commercial came on television. My son out of nowhere was like, 'Hey Mommy, you should order one of those in case there's a baby in your belly.' I was like, 'How rude! I just ate a big dinner. What is he talking about?' It stuck with me, and they've been asking off and on for a year or so for a sibling. We weren't closed off to the idea, it just wasn't something that we were actively thinking about," the actress recalled.

Intrigued by her son's words, Hewitt took a pregnancy test and learned that she would soon be a mom of three.
