Jenny McCarthy Announces Engagement With Donnie Wahlberg; Speaks About Her Son’s Reaction, On Her Show ‘The View’
Jenny McCarthy announced her engagement to actor and singer Donnie Wahlberg Wednesday on her talk show, “The View,” and described the proposal.
The 41-year-old co-host of ABC’s show revealed that Wahlberg popped the question to her and she said yes. She also showed off the yellow sapphire engagement ring on the show. Her 11-year-old son, Evan, was apparently part of the proposal.
"Donnie went into the other room and out came Evan with a card that said, 'Will,' and he handed it to me and I didn't know what was going on yet," McCarthy reportedly said.
"And then Evan ran away and Evan came back with a card that said 'You.' And then he ran away and I knew what was happening and I just started crying. And then Evan came back with a card that said 'marry; but spelled wrong -- it said 'M-A-R-Y' -- and then the last time Donnie came out with Evan, and Donnie's shirt said 'Me?' with a question mark holding the ring."
McCarthy also reportedly revealed that Evan had been excited about the whole event, and the moment she said a “yes” to Wahlberg, he yelled: “I have another dad.” She continued: "I feel like the luckiest girl in the world, he's so wonderful."
Wahlberg, who was present on the show but out of McCarthy’s sight, appeared on stage to surprise his bride-to-be, after the announcement was made.
McCarthy posted a picture of her wearing the big rock on her Instagram account, captioning: “Thank you for all of the sweet wishes. @donniewahlberg and I are grateful and blessed. #love #bhlove.”
The former Playboy model was married to actor John Mallory Asher in 1999 with whom she had her son, Evan, but the couple divorced in 2005. McCarthy later was in a relationship with actor Jim Carrey. The two started dating in 2005 and split in 2010.
This would also be Wahlberg's second marriage. He was previously married to Kim Fey and has two sons with her. The pair split in 2008.
